The Paint Place FRP is a social enterprise and an environmental charity operating within the London borough of Walthamstow Forest. The business started with two people 30 years ago aiming to increase the amount of recycling in the borough. Since 2006, it has been part of the national Community RePaint Network based in Bristol who supports 84 branches in total across the UK. On the environmental side, it tries to redistribute left-over materials and saves them from going to landfill; whereas on the social side, it provides low-entry jobs, volunteer opportunities and produces affordable paint (from £30 to £5). At the moment, the business has one shop in Walthamstow supplying reclaimed paint, scaffolding boards and textiles, and a warehouse in Leytonstone stocking reclaimed paint only.
