Harvey Stone Quarry and Stonemasons has been operating since the 1980s as a family business and supplies a range of new and reclaimed building stones (Hamstone, Portland stone, Bath stone, Doulton stone) to local and UK-based residential and public projects. Saul Harvey, the director, owns the Hamstone quarry as well as the stone workshops onsite which are equipped with stone-cutting and CNC machines. He employs two stonemasons onsite, one of which is his son.

In some cases, the company only acts as the supplier, in others, stone carving and design will be undertaken as well. The company works with building contractors in both local village and city environments, and is also in contact with Albion Stone for the supply of Portland Stone. Projects supplied with the company’s stone range from thatched stone houses in Guernsey to classical buildings such as University College School in London.

Reclaimed stone and tiles form a part of his business. In some cases, the company will actively go to demolition sites in order to salvage weathered stones for resale, which include walling stones, stone plinths, columns and decorative corbels. With the stone-cutting machines onsite, it is possible to modify reclaimed stones for resale. It is worth noting that Saul has built a private house in which almost all the materials used were reclaimed.
