Historische Bauelemente was founded by Olaf Elias in 1990. It all started when he collected objects and materials that GDR citizens wanted to get rid of after the fall of the Wall gave them access to the mass-produced goods of the West.

Today, the company consists of about 10 employees and is well networked throughout Germany. In the northwest of Berlin, the well-stocked, publicly accessible premises covers 23,000 square meters. In various warehouses, one can find everything from construction elements such as wood and bricks, tiles, doors and windows, to very special elements such as pieces of the Berlin Wall or works of art from the GDR. A second location of similar size stores the larger, bulkier objects. In short - here is everything you can imagine in the field of historical building materials. It is therefore not uncommon for the film industry to make use of the repertoire of objects and materials from Historische Bauelemente.

The materials are mostly salvaged by the company itself, and roughly prepared before they are resold. In the own wood workshop, the wooden building materials can be processed as desired. For further processing and preparation of other materials, customers are gladly referred to expert companies.
