Souk Kriaa, located in the old city centre of Casablanca, was designed by the French architect Bernard Zehrfuss, it was opened in 1952. In 2000, it got classified as a national historical monument by the National Institute of Heritage.
It is principally home to fabric shops, household machines, butchers and second hands materials. But it principally known for its wood works: old and new furnitures, workshops, repurposed wood, salvage wood from demolitions and constructions. Taking a full block of the city, hundreds are woking in the market, but around 40 reclaimed wood shop owners are inside the Kriaa. The quantity of wood transitioning there is hardly measurable but the market is known as one of the largest in the country, providing wood nationally.

Resellers have different specialties and use different materials. Wood doors and windows, boards, beams, pallets and repurposed furnitures are the most found materials. Imported and local woods are can be proposed, we can find mahogany, acacia, oak, cedar, pine, walnut, ash and most traditionally thuja. They also offer transport services, material salvaging, cleaning and wood repairs and home dismantling. All resellers and dealers are located in the same part of the market, allowing materials exchanges.

Very little historical pieces are exposed, the rest of the materials are mainly originating from recent demolitions, constructions or private sells.
