Winfried Ulm is an architect and planner in the field of historical monument protection. He has his own architecture office, in which he plans and implements renovations of historical buildings, which has given him more than 20 years of experience in the field of monument protection. Another branch of his work is trading with historical building materials.
The products on offer can be viewed in the exhibition in Schloss Ickelheim, where the planning office is also located.
The main focus in the area of historical building materials is on wood and wood-based materials. Winfried Ulm removes the old building materials himself and transports them to Ickelheim for wood processing. There, all components are thermally pretreated. The components are then processed further. Most of the building materials are old beams from barns. These are mainly processed into wooden flooring and wall cladding.
Furthermore, there is an external warehouse in Ickelheim where old bricks, roof tiles and tiles are stored.

Winfried Ulm ist Architekt und Planer im Bereich des historischen Denkmalschutzes. Er hat ein eigenes Architekturbüro, in dem er viele städtische Sanierungen plant und umsetzt, wodurch er im Bereich des Denkmalschutzes bereits über 20 Jahre Erfahrung gesammelt hat. Ein weiterer Zweig seiner Arbeit ist der Handel mit historischen Baumaterialien.
In der Ausstellung im Schloss Ickelheim, wo sich ebenfalls das Planungsbüro befindet, können die angebotenen Produkte besichtigt werden.
Der Hauptfokus im Bereich der historischen Baustoffe liegt auf Holz und Holzwerkstoffen. Winfried Ulm entnimmt die alten Baumaterialien selbst und transportiert sie nach Ickelheim in die Holzverarbeitung. Dort werden sämtliche Komponenten thermisch vorbehandelt. Im Anschluss werden die Komponenten weiterverarbeitet. Die meisten Baustoffe sind alte Balken aus Scheunen. Diese werden vorwiegend zu Holzdielenböden und Wandverkleidungen weiterverarbeitet.
Des weiteren ist in Ickelheim ein Außenlager, wo alte Ziegelsteine, Dachziegeln und Fliesen gelagert werden.
