Located in Essex, Ashwells specialises in reclaimed tropical timber. They have been working in the recycling industry since 1960s, and now for the past 20 years, they have decided to specialise in reclaiming and upcycling tropical hardwood. They are willing to help clients to re-create contemporary civic and domestic spaces with their incredibly durable and versatile reclaimed timber - those that have travelled half way around the world to eventually end up in the company's yard. They strongly believe that timber should never go to landfills. The majority of their reclaimed timber comes from the coastlines from sea defences. The other salvaged timbers are from fallen trees, landfill sites, and demolition jobs. Ashwells works closely with designers, architects and project managers. They are very passionate about reclamation and believe in zero waste. They try to find ways to make use of all offcuts and by-products, which is their way of helping protect tropical habitats for future generations.
