Altberliner Kachelöfen was founded in the early 90s and is located in the southeast of Berlin. Martin Graupner, the founder of the company has here with around 500 historic tiled stoves the largest stock in Germany. From very small and simple stoves to room-sized, extravagant pieces, everything can be found there in a wide variety of shapes and colors. 

The tiled stoves are photographed, dismantled and then stored in boxes. If a customer is found, the stove is transported to its destination and reassembled there. And in such a way that it is accepted by the chimney sweep and is fully functional again. 

In the storage rooms, which also extend over an old cinema hall, there are not only tiled stoves but also other historical building elements that Martin Graupner has saved over the years in "protest against the throwaway society" and is now returning to the cycle.

Altberliner Kachelöfen wurde Anfang der 90er Jahre gegründet und befindet sich im Südosten Berlins. Martin Graupner, der Gründer der Unternehmens, hat dort mit wohl 500 historischen Kachelöfen den größten Lagerbestand Deutschlands. Von ganz kleinen und schlichten Öfen bis zu raumgreifenden, extravaganten Exemplaren ist dort alles in unterschiedlichsten Formen und Farben zu finden.

Die Kachelöfen werden fotografiert, selbst abgebaut und dann in Kisten gelagert. Findet sich ein Kunde, wird der Ofen zum Zielort transportiert und dort wieder aufgebaut. Und zwar so, dass er vom Schornsteinfeger abgenommen wird und wieder voll funktionstüchtig ist, und auf Wunsch auch mit Glasheiztür.

In den Lagerräumen, die sich auch über einen alten Kinosaal erstrecken, finden sich neben den Kachelöfen auch weitere historische Bauelemente, die Martin Graupner über die Jahre aus „Protest gegen die Wegwerfgesellschaft“ gerettet hat und nun wieder zurück in den Kreislauf führt.
